About Share Your Heart

The Share Your Heart Ball is the primary fundraising event for the Camp Rainbow Gold Program. In one elegant evening, approximately 500 of Idaho’s finest residents join together to support and celebrate a year-round program extending services to more than 200 Idaho children diagnosed with cancer and their families. In one magical night, people enjoy fine dining, an impressive silent auction, an energy-packed live auction, dancing and mingling with new and familiar faces at The Sun Valley Resort, a five-star destination nestled on the edge of the Sawtooth National Forest.

The generosity and compassion of people like you is an integral part of the Share Your Heart Ball story. Donations and sponsorships offer a key marketing opportunity to an elite group while ensuring the continued success of what’s become a valuable part of the larger Idaho community.

The Share Your Heart Ball strikes a balance between the importance of Camp Rainbow Gold’s mission, the potential of growing your own business by aligning with an important non-profit organization and the fun of spending an evening celebrating life.

While the Share Your Heart Ball is approaching its eighth year, the Camp Rainbow Gold Program started more than 25 years ago as a weeklong camp for children diagnosed with cancer. The oncology camp is held in Ketchum, Idaho, the first week of every August. Most recently, camp hosted 85 campers. While this is the maximum we can accommodate at a time, it still represents only six percent of the children in Idaho we could be reaching. In an effort to meet the needs of more children in Idaho diagnosed with cancer, we will add another week of oncology camp in 2010. While this brings a host of challenges, it also brings as many – or more – opportunities.

Beyond the original camp, Camp Rainbow Gold and has grown to a program that supports the children and their families with a variety of programs year-round. It is the mission of Camp Rainbow Gold to provide medically supervised camps, college scholarships and other emotionally empowering experiences to Idaho’s children diagnosed with cancer, their families and support network. The Camp Rainbow Gold program is sustained by private donations, volunteer efforts and community fundraising like the Share Your Heart Ball.
